Animal week and Howdy Tyson!

This was was what he did to himself drawing "whiskers" on his face and those lines that football players where under their eyes. I can't even go to the bathroom for 3 minutes without something happening.
What an answer to prayer that Tyson looks forward to school. Each morning he asks me if today is a school day. He only goes 3 days a week for 4 hours a day but he enjoys it so much. (My baby is growing up) This was during "Animal week" he's supposed to be a farmer but we settled on "ranch hand" /farmer/ cowboy. this was the before shot. His teachers drew freckles on him during the day.

He's here!

No, not our new baby but my sister's little miracle "Blake Anthony" He's so sweet, I could just kiss him. Merry & Blake are doing well. Adjusting nicely to the new sweet life of breastfeeding/ sleeping. Life is good!

Sisters

So the Hancock sisters in one picture? unbelievable! Here we are at Merry's baby shower for Blake. Notice how the bellys are chopped out :-)

First day of preschool

This was a big day for Tyson. He wanted to wear his triple favorite shirt, favorite sport- football, favorite number-8, favorite color- "regular blue". Whatever gets him dressed, right? He has learned lots of songs, painted, played, made new friends, overall, having a great time! Much to my relief! Now, what to do with all this freetime!

Tyson starts preschool

So my baby boy started preschool 3 days a week 4 hours a day. So far so good! I was worried his separation anxiety would get the best of him but he has done really well. I did snap a couple pics the first day so I will post those soon. Until then. . . .

This is the latest Grimes family photo. It was taken during my youngest sister Beth's wedding weekend in Gatlinburg, TN. It was a fun day!
Skipping in the rain. They couldn't believe they were allowed to get all wet.

Tyson & Jonah discovered the paper shredder, the FULL paper shredder. The office looked like a new years party ball had exploded. What a MESS!
Taylor loves to ride the bus home. The rest of us wait on the porch looking expectantly for our favorite first grader.
This is "Aunt Merry" my sister who is due with "baby Blake" a couple weeks before Christmas.
Tyson loves calimari. He ate a plateful of these "octopus shaped" foods.
Playing in the rain. Summer rains are the best, no thunder so it was totally safe.

Can you believe this little guy?! He's already sucking his thumb. oh, I just cried & cried when I saw this. neither of our other 2 boys did this, that I can remember. Everything is perfect about him, I can't wait to see him & kiss his little face.

IT'S A BOY

RESULTS ARE IN. ANOTHER BOY!! WE ARE THRILLED, SURPRISED, BUT THRILLED. CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU SWEET BOY!

First day of first grade~! He was a little nervous. "What if it isn't like Kindergarten"? "But I won't feel like a big kid if I don't ride the bus" "Why do I have to go eeeeeveryday!" Then I got down to the truth... "I want to stay home & play with my new Transformers!" Ah hah! He loves school but he loves coming home to play too! We will let him ride the bus home a couple days this week to see how it goes.

so this is what Derek thought was a good idea to see if Taylor was serious about playing the drums. Stoked came to mind. Thank God for head phones so I don't have to hear it. Then of course, Transformers now have taken over the house. I just love having boys :-) !

This is Derek's birthday dinner. We went to a place called Bennie's Barn on the Island. It was actually an old barn, wierd. Anyway the food was ok but way overpriced, Derek said he would rather next year just go to Outback. Sounds great to me!

boys on the beach. They had so much fun! Everyone slept really well each night.

I've tried to download several pictures but I'm not getting it so this is it for now. We love going to the pier on St. Simon's Island.

Guess who turned 30?

Here is a sweet rendition of an old classic. Or something like that. The next several pictures are from our busy last 2 weeks, 2 birthdays & a graduation. Where does the time go?

I love being a mom. I know that this is what I was created to do. To love God, to love my husband, and to love my kids. Nothing gives me more pleasure than holding their hands or kissing their sweet little lips. Today was a wonderful day. Life is good!

Check out the cool new do! This is the style he wanted & Derek said it's just hair! So I guess we'll have to pick our battles. At least my 5 year old didn't ask for an earring or black nail polish or a tattoo that says "mom" He is asking for his own cell phone, "in case he gets lost" was his reasoning. Right! we'll see which "battle" we pick next! For now, I'm ok with a mohawk!

These boys are the best! Taylor & Tyson with their new hairdos & then Tyson with his best buddy Jonah Bonah. Can you tell they're saying "cheeeeese"?

So today was one of those memorable days where nothing really goes wrong, just not the way I had planned. Tyson and I had planned to go to the recycle center, the library downtown & the Discovery Center but within an hours time he had "poured me a cup of coffee" i.e. filled my coffee cup with creamer & then poured the remaining creamer on the table & floor. Plus I think he drank all the coffee that was already in the cup to begin with. Then since his clothes were wet, he stripped down to nothing but his blue croclings & ran out the garage door so the whole neighborhood could see. While I was wiping the creamer from the rug & table he proceeded to pour a bottle of bubble bath into the tub( that'll be fun during bathtime tonight) anyway, one thing after another until we wisked out the door to run off some of his energy. Discovery center was fun, sorry, forgot the camera. There were about 17 field trips of school aged kids. overall, it's been an eventful morning & I'm ready to lie down he he, let's just see if that happens! New pictures to come shortly.

Spring 2008- We love to play outside!

Spring is here & the Grimes boys are ready to play all the time! Can you tell the sun was in their eyes? The line was too long to wait for lunch here so we played a little bit then walked back to the car & headed home. We picnic-ed (is that a word) at home & played in the sunshine!
I've never tried to download a video on here so bear with me please. I guess it turned out ok.

These 2 boys have tons of attitude! The cold snap allowed us a chance to use our new hoodies, which we bought on clearance for next year! Didn't know we'd need them so soon! BRrrrrr! Still didn't stop us from playing at kids castle!

We love the Discovery Center. I can't remember what he was saying but at least he's smiling!

Springtime is here

They were so excited about the egg hunt but there were no eggs to be found. They still managed to have some fun!

wheee! Tyson loves to play with Derek! I wonder how long he'll be able to throw Ty around like that!

A little wrestle time! Nice move Taylor!

I just love those sweet little piggies!

Can you believe what daddy let Taylor do?! Only on Grimes Family Fun Night!

Drinking from the milk carton! Daddy did it!

yum! Mud! Daddy always picks messy desserts!

Grimes Family Fun night! We made ooey gooey stuff- Tyson is eating mud & worms-- eeewww! He loved it!

Monday, March 3, 2008

Well, it's a great picture of Derek. The boys look goofy, but at least they're happy! If they look worn out, it's because they had just finished wrestling on the big bed. (a nightly ritual to avoid going to bed. Derek can't resist)

Tyson is such a streaker. This is the edited version of how he usually looks. Thank God for the guitar. We have lots of naked Tyson stories (and pictures) but we'll save that for another day.

Tyson loves to carry all his blankets to the living room & play his guitar with new headphones. He's just a big guy now!

Snow day

This is our first official picture on the Grimes Family blog. Hopefully I will get the hang of this so you can see more pictures.

Though this looks like a lot of snow, it was just a dusting. Enough to play "Let's see whose hands can freeze off first while throwing snow balls at mom" Maybe we'll get another snow day before it warms up for good.
